Our Story

Way of Sound is a comprehensive approach to sound healing, which harmonizes the human bodymind field in all its dimensions. It is built upon an understanding that connects the elements of both eastern traditions and western science.

We had the chance to meet and study with world renowned teachers of sound healing, internal gong fu, yoga and meditation from various traditions. We integrate and combine their teachings in our system. We opened the first sound therapy studio in Istanbul and later we shared our experiences of hundreds of individual sessions in seminars and conferences.

Eventually, our teachings have developed into series of workshops that synthetize practices of yoga, qigong, taijiquan, sound and other modalities into a clear method for internal practice. This method was first presented under the title ‘The 6th Sense – Sense of Self in Space’.

History / Archaeoacoustics

Many ancient civilizations  have used sound for thousands of years, both for healing purposes and to expand awareness and reach higher states of consciousness. Hymns, prayers, chanting, mantras, drums, bells and gongs used in temples are just some examples. Research shows that ancient megalithic temples were built to have special acoustic qualities.

Archaeoacoustics is an inter-disciplinary approach connecting archeology, acoustics, anthropology and ethnomusicology. We have been a part in the organization of Archeaoacoustics conferences from the beginning.

Human Tuning

John Beaulieu, N.D., Ph.D., is one of the foremost philosophers and major innovators in the area of sound healing therapies.

A world-renowned speaker, composer, pianist, and naturopathic doctor, Dr. Beaulieu has pioneered a technique called BioSonic Repatterning™, a natural method of healing and consciousness development using tuning forks and other sound modalities based on the sonic ratios inherent in nature.

We have met with Dr. Beaulieu in 2013 and studied his method extensively.

Traditional sound healing

Balla Tibor is one of Europe’s most experienced teachers of traditional eastern methods of sound healing. Having studied with him in Hungary we developed a deeper understanding into the mechanisms of action of healing with singing bowls.

In search of the origins of sound healing with singing bowls, we traveled to Nepal to study with Master Shree Krishna Shahi in Kathmandu Healing Center. We also took the opportunity to visit factories and observed the traditional manufacturing process of the bowls.

Workshops and Seminars

Inspired by the remarkable changes even a single session with sound can induce, we felt the need to share these results with wider audiences. Thus we organized the first conference of sound healing in Istanbul.

Alongside with our sound practice, we continue to teach qigong and taijiquan. It is clear to us that although these methods may seem to differ, their effects on the human bodymind are similar. This realization helped us to create a systematic approach that by now helped many teachers and practitioners to deepen their understanding.
